Vinyl Flooring

The demand for vinyl flooring remains high. The challenge for many homeowners is understanding the different types of vinyl flooring and knowing what is best for their space. We are here to help you understand the different types of vinyl flooring.

Luxury Vinyl Plank

Also known as LVP, vinyl plank comes in wood look planks. Both glue down and click versions are available and can be DIY friendly or professionally installed. Maintaining a glue down LVP floor is easy as you can remove a damaged piece and replace it with a fresh one without needing to remove the entire floor. Click vinyl is also repairable, but a professional technician will be needed for this.

Luxury Vinyl Tile

Luxury vinyl tile (LVT) is the type of vinyl flooring that comes in individual ‘tile’ pieces and emulates ceramic tile while being softer, warmer, and more comfortable underfoot. LVT is available in glue down/grouted and click formats. Luxury vinyl tile comes in gorgeous colours and styles and has surface texture that feels like ceramic tile.

Vinyl Sheet

Vinyl sheet is a non-rigid vinyl material that comes in a 12’ roll and is installed as a single piece. Vinyl sheet is both water resistant and durable. Although vinyl sheet can be a great cost-effective option, one of the drawbacks is that you will likely need to replace the whole floor if you have damage in an area.

Properties of Vinyl Flooring

The biggest advantage to choosing vinyl for your home is that it is water resistant and can be installed throughout.

Vinyl floors are not only water resistant, but also scratch resistant.

Style and design are at the forefront of vinyl manufacturers. Vinyl comes in a style and design for every space.

Vinyl floors are known for the ease of cleaning and maintenance. For example, changing or replacing a glue down vinyl plank or tile is easy and seamless. This can be done by the homeowner or by a professional. Click replacements are a tricky fix and will require a professional technician. Vinyl sheet repairs will also require the assistance of a professional, or a complete replacement as repairs do not always go well.

Most vinyl floors can be installed either by a qualified technician or by the homeowner.
